The Danish painter Carl-Henning Pedersen (1913-2007) was a member of the CoBrA artist group. His works are characterised by their richness of colour, often using blue as their sounding board. His subjects include horses, birds and imaginary creatures, as well as ships, castles, and stars, which create narratives inspired by fairy tales, fables or myths. Carl-Henning Pedersen was married to the artist Else Alfelt until her death in 1974, and in Herning a gallery was established to exhibit the works of the two artists. Throughout his long period of work he received a number of awards.
