The Danish artist Ib Geertsen (1919-2009) found his expression in both paintings and sculptures. He began his career with several naturalistic works, but subsequently made a transition to a more concrete and constructivist idiom. In the 1940s he was co-founder of Linien ӀӀ (Line II), and helped to introduce concrete abstract art to Denmark. His works are based on colours, shapes, lines and movement. He created several decorative works throughout Denmark, and is also well known for his mobiles. He received both the Eckersberg and Thorvaldsen Medals.
