Guide: Nine Things You Must Experience at Kunsten During Summer Vacation

New exhibitions, art hunts, edible masterpieces, and the last chance to see John Kørner. We have compiled a list of nine things you must experience at Kunsten during the summer vacation.

1. Kunsten Summer Lounge

Every Wednesday throughout the summer, you can enjoy a festival atmosphere in the best way possible. Kunsten Summer Lounge offers live music, DJs, talks, pop-up events and art performances, food from Brasserie Kunsten, cool drinks, and fun with friends every week. See the program here.

2. New exhibition: Vivivan Maier

Alongside her work as a nanny, Vivian Maier (1926-2009) photographed people on the streets of America for over four decades.

The exhibition presents 150 snapshots from 1950-1970s New York and Chicago, showcasing one of the greatest street photographers of the 20th century.

3. Art hunt for families

Embark on Kunsten's popular art hunt throughout the entire museum. Armed with a map, you'll search for various artworks and along the way, collaborate to solve exciting and fun tasks.

Children must be accompanied by an adult, and our Art Guide is ready to kick off the hunt. You can join the art hunt from 10 AM to 12 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from July 1st to August 9th. The art hunt takes approximately 45 minutes.

4. Art Lab: Drop-in workshop with personalized brushes

A long brush with elastic bands as bristles. Or perhaps you'll use fabric or twigs, or even both? In the summer's Art Lab, we draw inspiration from John Kørner and create fun, unconventional, and personalized brushes. Finally, you can try painting with your very own unique brush.

The Art Lab is open from 1 PM to 3 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from July 1st to August 9th. The workshop takes approximately 15-45 minutes. Please note, there may be waiting times if the museum is crowded. Everyone is welcome, and children must always be accompanied by an adult.

5. Exhibition: John Kørner – CRAZY AWAKE

The first solo exhibition at an art museum in seven years featuring Danish artist John Kørner. Experience iconic works from Kunsten's collection alongside brand new paintings, sculptures, and installations by Kørner.

The exhibition is open until August 18th.

6. Summer's best ingredients at Brasserie Kunsten
