Paper isn’t just paper. It can have all sorts of shapes, textures and qualities – most artists know that – and when you create it yourself out of recycled materials, each sheet can suddenly turn into a work of art in itself. This workshop will give you an opportunity to explore a world of creative possibilities, in which paper isn’t simply a background, but part of the work – or even the work itself.
An old second-hand book, dried flower petals and old wrapping paper – they all come into their own when used to make exclusive, unique sheets of recycled paper. In this workshop, our in-house artist will provide you with expert guidance as you transform raw materials into delicate, original sheets of paper.
Delve into the process of papermaking, draw inspiration from the art around us, and then make the process your own. We’ll play with the texture, decoration, dyeing of paper, and whatever else you may come up with as you get more and more acquainted with the process.
And of course, at the end you’ll get to take your paperworks home. Then it’s entirely up to you whether they end up as part of an art project, as personalised cards and letters, or on a wall as small works of art in their own right.
The art workshops are all about using materials. You are guided and supervised by a trained artist. Together we explore and experiment, discovering the potential of a particular technique or material. Given the experimental nature of the workshops, you can approach the content on your terms.
Your ticket includes excellent materials and expert guidance from our in-house artist. You never know what you’ll be working with, so don’t wear your best clothes!
You’re welcome to buy drinks or snacks in the Brasserie to enjoy in the workshop as we explore and experiment.
