Artistic Workshop: Learn the Art of Serigraphy

Next time:
Mar 6th 2025, 5:00pm to 7:00pm

This serigraphy workshop will provide you with guidance in this tactile printing technique – also known as screen printing. You’ll get to design and cut your own motif and print it on fabric or paper, or even inject new life into fabrics you bring along.

Serigraphy is an artistic printing technique that also goes by the names of screen printing or silk screening.

Perhaps one of the most famous examples of serigraphy in the world of art is Andy Warhol’s colourful portrait of Marilyn Monroe – Marilyn Diptych (1962).

And in this workshop you’ll get the opportunity to create your very own serigraphic works. Under the expert guidance of the artist Mette Boel you’ll design motifs, cut them out and print them onto your chosen medium.

As part of the workshop we’ll visit the exhibition If You Can See What I See – Stine Goya x Kunsten: an ideal opportunity to delve into the stories of separation, longing, dreams and desires featured in the works, and to explore the sensuousness and materiality with which the curator and fashion designer Stine Goya has invested the exhibition.

You can print on both paper and pieces of fabric, which we’ll make available – which you can then make into tote bags, if you fancy. But you’re also welcome to bring along a t-shirt, tote bag or whatever and inject new life into it. Cotton is the best fabric to use when it comes to colour printing.

About the Artistic Workshops

The art workshops are all about using materials. You are guided and supervised by a trained artist. Together we explore and experiment, discovering the potential of a particular technique or material. Given the experimental nature of the workshops, you can approach the content on your terms.

Your ticket includes excellent materials and expert guidance from our in-house artist. You never know what you will be working with, so don’t wear your best clothes!

You’re welcome to buy drinks or snacks in the Brasserie to enjoy in the workshop as we explore and experiment.

Round off your evening in style at Brasserie Kunsten, where the menu is inspired by the very best seasonal produce. We recommend booking a table in advance.
