The period after 1990 is characterised by Minimalist works, Conceptual art, Post-Modern sculptures, installation art, Neo-Expressionistic and "classical" painting. As in the rest of the 20th century, artists continue to push the boundaries by experimenting with materials and forms. Kirsten Ortwed's sculpture The Mines I and II and Hein Heinsen's Sculpture 92 pose a number of questions for the viewer. Both sculptures are presented "classically" on pedestals, but where do the two works "begin and end"? The congealed figures suggest processes, which have come to a standstill. What processes?
