International Wednesday

Kunsten invites you to an international evening at the museum the first Wednesday each month during the Fall.

Gather your friends, and join a guided tour in our exhibitions. You need NO former museum experience to participate, and no prior enrolment is necessary.

 

The guided tour is free after payed admission.

Art on paper: Donation Florence & Daniel Guerlain – Centre Pompidou 

August 17, 5pm

In 2012 the perfume heirs, Florence and Daniel Guerlain, donated their enormous collection of art on paper, which consists of 1,200 drawings by more than 200 artists, to Centre Pompidou. Kunsten has gotten the honour of exhibiting a selection of the finest works, which shows the collection's major artistic span. Join this guided tour and learn more about the different artists and their diverse artistic expressions on paper.

Nature in the art

September 7, 5pm

At Kunsten nature plays an essential role. It was important for the architects, Elissa and Alvar Aalto with Jean-Jacques Barüel, that nature outside was visible from inside the museum, and that the park and architecture melted together to a unity. But it is not only in the park surrounding the museum, that you will find nature. The nature is also very present in many of the artworks inside. Join this guided tour at let’s find the nature, which blooms everywhere at Kunsten.

 

Between reality and fiction: Omer Fast – Present Continuous

October 5, 5pm

From September 24 2016 to January 8 2017 Kunsten exhibits video works by Israeli-born artist Omer Fast (b. 1972), who now resides in Berlin. In his works Fast mixes reality and fiction, as well as true and false, when he portrays the personal consequences of concurrent existential topics. In this tour, a guide will help you into the universe of this genre of the contemporary art.

 

Contemporary art

November 2, 5pm

Contemporary art is artworks made by artists, who lives in - and comment on - the world we live in right now. Based on Kunsten's own collection of art, we will experience a variation of different contemporary expressions, materials ant techniques, and talk about where the art is heading as we speak.

 

The vulnerable and ageing body: Maria Lassnig

December 7, 5pm

Through time, the human body has been a popular motif among painters. From November 18 2016 until February 26 2017, Kunsten has the great honour to present the first solo exhibition in Denmark ever by the Austrian Maria Lassnig (1919-2014) in collaboration with Tate Liverpool. The focal point of Lassnig’s career of 70 years has been an ongoing exploration of the human body – especially her own. This guided tour will take you on a retrospective journey through Lassings bold and colorful treatment of the vulnerable and aging human body.
