Any work of art in three dimensions. As a result of 1970s concept art the word started to be used to describe a wide range of avant-garde works of art, ranging from written statements to the use of space and time as extra dimensions. When the English artist Richard Long went on one of his planned hikes through a landscape and highlighted what he had done on a map, he called this action "sculpture". The word is thus manipulated to cover almost any form of artistic activity other than painting and graphics.
