Michael Kvium is one of Denmark’s most famous visual artists. His occasionally eerie, macabre works are controversial. Kvium and the younger artist, Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl talk about how young and older artists can draw inspiration from each other. Kvium and Mejdahl share a sense of playfulness and fascination with the absurdities of our everyday aesthetics.
Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl (b. 1990) is a professional artist and composer. His works include the musical video work ODE (2015) – about how his family processed the murder of his father.
Michael Kvium (b. 1955) graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1985. Over the years he has exhibited in museums and galleries throughout Denmark and abroad.
This is Emma Holten’s second year as a host. She is a feminist activist and lecturer. She has made a name for herself as one of the significant voices on the subjects of equality, power and oppression in Denmark.
Guldimund is the award-winning songwriter Asger Nordtorp Pedersen, whose distinctive voice, wide range and precision express sensuous testimonies from intimate everyday life. He is always accompanied by top musicians from the Danish jazz, pop and folk music scene.
Priests, reviewers, culture ministers, radio hosts and Danish teachers are already among his multitude of avid listeners - and with good reason. Guldimund insists that magnificence does not have to be pretentious, and that intimacy can sometimes provide the most intense experience.
3:00 – 8:30 PM in the Auditorium – Danish with English subtitles
Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl’s (b. 1991) absurdist video work Come On, Molly features a dog couple, Rokko and Bobbi in their first conversation with Molly, a psychoanalyst.
The couple open up about their problems with PTSD and childhood trauma, which are reflected in symptomatic peeing on the carpet and an amputated sex life. But, using meditative teaching based on Goethe’s theory of colour, Molly takes the couple on a trippy, transformative journey of love.
Molly, Rokko and Bobbi’s voices are provided by the artist Ursula Reuter Christiansen, the author/poet Bjørn Rasmussen and the artist Simon Reinhardt.
3.00 - 5.00 PM
Are you a football mad, a roligan or a bench warmer? Whatever you are, check out Sydbank’s giant football-dart tournament. Kunsten and Sydbank will be awarding some great 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. All you have to do is turn up and sign up on the day.
In the park, you can take on friends throughout the Summer Lounge – both those you know and those you haven’t met yet – in football billiards, kubb or ladder golf.
4.00 - 5.00 PM & 6.00 - 7.00 PM
Sharpen your best pencil, dust off your sketchpad and drop by the ‘Sketch With Me’ drawing session - an informal community for ANYONE with an interest in drawing. Whether you’re a professional cartoonist, a closet illustrator or have just drawn your very first lines on a sheet of paper - it doesn’t matter. Everyone is welcome to take part - because EVERYONE CAN DRAW!
Kunsten’s Drawing Club x Sketch With Me is a regular part of Kunsten’s evening programme, so you’ll have ample opportunity to join Bastian and the rest of the drawing community again.
3:00 – 8:30 PM
Come and enter a consent tattoo competition, get your condoms - you name it. We’re talking about a new garden game in the park - ‘Danish Family Planning Association Jeopardy’.
The Aalborg branch of the Danish Family Planning Association is fighting for safer nightlife in the city’s streets. That starts with prevention and a good talk.
3.00 PM – 8.30 PM
Stop by POPUPLOP’s fashion activist clothing exchange station, which will take place in the park every Wednesday during the summer. Heaven knows what you’ll find! If it’s time to clear out your wardrobe and make room for new finds, then bring a pile of your clothes! The more, the better!
POPUPLOP is supported by GRO SELV, a community of young people who experiment throughout Denmark with green initiatives.
