Move through some of the most significant milestones in 20th‑century Danish art history in the exhibition Kunsten Classic. From the Modern Breakthrough, Art Nouveau, and Symbolism around 1900, through Modernism, Surrealism, and Cobra, and all the way to the Conceptual Art of the 1960s and 70s.

A rich collection

The exhibition is built on Kunsten’s rich collection of artworks and is complemented by examples of period design, furniture, and crafts. In this way, the artworks are placed within their historical context, allowing you to gain a sense of the time in which they were created.

In the exhibition, you can immerse yourself in well‑known classics or discover a number of newly acquired and previously overlooked works in the collection. This includes several works by female artists that have been added to the museum’s collection in recent years, as part of an effort to address the gender imbalance that has long characterised art‑historical narratives.
