Join us for a truly unique yoga experience, where art and body merge on Aalto’s marble. We let imagination guide us with playful instructions—drawing inspiration from Fluxus and the avant-garde experiments seen in Elina Brotherus’ works.
Kunsten, and yoga instructor Amanda Borby, invite you to a sensory yoga session in the exhibition If You Can See What I See – Stine Goya x Kunsten. We roll out the mats on top of Morten Søndergaard’s monumental work 'Unknow Yourself' (2017), where marble blocks filled with words and questions become part of the experience.
Amanda guides us through a sensory practice, where colors, shapes, sounds from the artworks and the cool marble surface are woven into the yoga. Here, familiar yoga movements are combined with inspiration from Elina Brotherus’ playful use of ‘Event Scores’—small performative instructions, that encourage us to experiment and use our imagination.
Elina Brotherus is currently featured at Kunsten with the exhibition Elina Brotherus – Fill With Own Imagination, where Kunsten comes alive and Aalto’s architecture is transformed by the Finnish contemporary artist, presenting a series of brand-new works - created with the museum as a setting.
During the session, you might be asked to…
- Carry an object to a different place and see it in a new light
- Draw a line… and erase it again
- Occupy the space in your own unique way
It is an experience where you feel your body, listen to your imagination, and step into a space where art, body and Aalto’s marble meet.
If you have joined before, you are more than welcome again. Amanda varies the exercises each time.
Kunsten Museum of Modern Art has invited the internationally acclaimed Finnish contemporary artist Elina Brotherus to create an exhibition, featuring camera-based and performative works, that engage in dialogue with the museum, its architecture and its collection.
In this monumental marble poem, you are invited to move around to experience and complete the inscriptions carved into the stones. The sentences are inspired by Old Babylonian omens and all begin with the word "if". The answers, however, are not given, they are for you to discover.
Complete the experience with a dinner in the beautiful and tranquil setting of Brasserie Kunsten. Here, you can curate your own collection of gastronomic artworks—small, elegant dishes that, when combined into three or four dishes, make up a delightful meal.
- IMPORTANT: Bring your own yoga mat.
- Kunsten provides blankets.
